Paul was appointed to the El Dorado County Fire Board of Directors in 2018 and elected in 2020. Currently he represents Shingle Springs Division 5. In 2016, Paul created the Greater Cameron Park Area (GCPA) Fire Safe Council which he currently chairs. Since 2016, Paul has also served on the El Dorado County Fire Safe Council board of Directors.
As a graduate from California State University at Chico, Paul has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Minor in Business Administration. Additionally, he holds an Associate of Arts degree from Chabot College. Paul and his spouse, Katie, and their beagles have lived in the Shingle Springs area since 1999. Paul’s hobbies include golfing, bicycling, skiing and woodworking.
To pay his way through college, Paul worked summers in the Alaskan salmon fisheries, as well as, at a lumber yard and a sheet metal processing plant in northern California. Additionally, he was a high school football, wrestling, and track/field coach.
Being the third in the family of four siblings, Paul grew up as the son of a 30-year career Air Force serviceman. In his early years, he lived in various places in North America and Europe. While living in different geographic areas, he had unique opportunities to experience various cultures.
Paul is currently retired. His professional career involved working with technology application solutions to improve operation’s bottom line and gain efficiencies through technology. Industries Paul worked in included: Food Manufacturing, Print Manufacturing, Distribution & Fulfillment, Payroll & Human Resources, Public Utilities, Provider Healthcare, Subscriber Healthcare and Public Policy. Solution deployments included business applications (Manufacturing, Payroll, Financial, HR, Call Center, EMR, Enrollment and Project Portfolio Management.) Infrastructure solutions comprised fiber optic network solutions and network operations management. He has worked in local, state, national and global settings. Paul has rolled up his sleeves and performed hands on development, project / program / portfolio management, and held various leadership positions.
Giving back to the community important and having worked in both public and private sector entities, Paul has an exceptional unique perspective to draw from and utilize. On the surface these public and private entities seem very different, in reality they are much the same. Each does not have unlimited funds or resources to work on the assignments. Leaders are faced with managing and finding ways to ensure the entities achieve mission objectives with available funding and resources.
