Lloyd Ogan has been a resident of El Dorado County for 45 years. He has lived in Placerville, Pollock Pines, and for the past 30 years in Pleasant Valley. Lloyd is a 36 year veteran of the fire service. In 2015 he retired from a 33 year career with the Sacramento Fire Department, where he rose through all the ranks to the number 2 position in the department, Deputy Fire Chief of Operations, a position he held for 9 years. In addition, he was the Acting Fire Chief in 2014. He was certified in almost every speciality of the Fire Service and maintains many of those qualifications still today. Lloyd had the unique opportunity to join with the Sacramento Police and Sheriff’s Departments in 1997 in creating, developing and supervising the Sacramento Regional Drivers Training Facility at the decommissioned Mather AFB. The Emergency Vehicle Operation Course reduced SFD vehicle accidents by 77%. He was a Governing Board Member from 2007-2015. In 2019, Chief Ogan was asked to lead the El Dorado County Fire Protection District as the Interim Fire Chief for 1 year. This was a very rewarding position with many accomplishments during his tenure there. In 2021 Chief Ogan was asked to fill the role of Interim Division Chief of Operations for Turlock Fire Department for six months. His role was to assess the operational readiness and facilitate implementation of integrated operations and training with a Regional Fire Shared Resource effort in Stanislaus County. Chief Ogan has been also been a Fire Instructor since 1986. He currently stills teaches EVOC, and Command Courses nationally. He has been a presenter at many national seminars and workshops throughout the years.
Lloyd also has many other passions. For the past 20 years, he has been a Hospital, and currently a Fire Chaplin in El Dorado County, and is a licensed Minister. He has been married to his wife Jacqueline for 39 years. They have two adult children, a daughter MacKenzie who is an RN in Georgia, and a son Cody who is a Corrections Officer for EDSO. Together, they travel, hike, ride off road motorcycles, operate a small sawmill, and are active in their church.
